KOULUA JA STRESSIÄ / SCHOOL AND STRESS
Bonjour!
Koulu on tuonut melkoista stressiä viimeaikoina.
The school has been quite stressful lately. 15 courses. 10 presentations, upcoming exams + homework brings big pressure for school. I think (and so does the rest of the class) 15 courses is way too much for one semester. We have been sending lots of messages and spoke to the teachers, that we cannot do it, but their answer is just: "Our own students can do 15 courses, so you should too". So the teachers don't flex basically at all with us... We also have so many similar courses but with different professors, and everyone is teaching almost the same stuff. We don't understand why the courses can't be combined, which would make everything more clear. I will be really happy if I make it through all of these exams, presentations and homework...
But we have had some nice times at school also, we have visited a bakery, and the towns of Montelimar and Tournon.
We went to a bakery (boulangerie) with our gastronomy teacher. At the bakery they presented us some french breads, and there was lot to choose from: bread with olive, with red wine, white bread, rye bread etc.. We also heard about the company's history and about their products they offer. We got rye bread and croissants as a gift from them, a nice surprise.
To Montelimar we went with our french teacher, who lives there herself. In Montelimar we went to visit a nougat factory. We got a company presentation and saw how the nougat was made. We got to hear about nougat's preparation and what ingredients they use for it. The French nougat differs from the others so that they use egg whites in the preparation. Of course we got some nougat for tasting and it was goooood;) I didn't buy much as a souvenir, because it was a bit expensive, around 23€/kilo.
Before fall break we visited a four and a three star hotels in Tournon. The four-star hotel was really fancy, the rooms were beautiful and comfy. In the four-star hotel we had to also take a 10 euro breakfast which included a cup of coffee and one croissant... In my opinion, it's a bit overpriced for the quantity. The customers in the four-star hotel are usually interested in wines, because the hotel arranges wine tastings and next to it is a famous wine area; Tain l'Hermitage.
In the three-star hotel we also got a introduction round, it was noticiable that the rooms weren't as high-class as in the four-star hotel. We ate a 10 euro lunch at the three-star hotel, which included a main course, dessert and a wine. After the hotel visits we got to visit a castle (Château de Tournon).
Viime viikolla me menimme päiväksi Lyoniin. Kaipaamme kotia.
Last week we had a day trip to Lyon. It was really cold weather (the winter is coming), so we could mostly only focus on keeping ourselves warm. But we saw a lot of cool hidden and quiet corridors through the city and we went on a tram/metro which went up the hill. I've never been on one of these before, it felt cool. Up the hill of Lyon there was a nice view to all of the city and we visited a catholic cathedral. For lunch we had only energy for McDonalds, and we didn't have much time so we just went to the first place we found. There wasn't enough seats for us all, and we were tired, so, not the best experience. After the walking tour we got some free time and we went to the shopping mall, Part-Dieu, and me and Kaisa bought some Christmas decorations. We miss home.
Terkuin: Susa
