Heippsan! 

Huh! Selvisin hengissä, kulunut viikko oli ehkä rankin kaikista kouluviikoista. Matikankoe, viinitietouden koe, tunnin mittainen powerpoint estiys Rhone Valleyn alueesta, Prezi esitys Kreikasta, sekä paljon palautettavia kotitehtäviä. Vielä olisi muutama koe ja loppuraportti ennen lomaa, mutta onneksi kaikki suurimmat tehtävät on ohi. Saa siis luvan hengähtää. 

Phew! I survived, the past week was probably the hardest of all the school weeks. A math exam, oenology exam, an hour long PowerPoint presentation about Rhône Valley, a Prezi presentation about Greece and lots of other exersices we had to return this week. Still a few exams left and the final report before the holiday, but luckily, most of them are now done. Allowed to take a moment for myself.

Cave de Tain

Tällä viikolla kävimme tutustumassa myös Cave de Tain viinitilaan. Se oli mukava kokemus ja muistan sen varmasti aina:) Lähdimme aamulla kahdeksan aikaan junalla kohti Tournonia, jossa viinitila sijaitsi. Ennen kaikkea kivaa ohjelmaa, meillä oli viinitietouden koe, kokeen jälkeen lähdimme kiertelemään viinitilaa, jossa näimme konkreettisesti tilat, jossa viiniä valmistetaan. Cave de Tain viinitila on perustettu vuonna 1933 ja pääasialliset viinilajit ovat Syrah ja Viognier.

This week we went to visit the winery of Cave de Tain. It was a pleasant experience and I will for sure remember it always:) We left at 8 in the morning with the train towards Tournon, where it was located. Above all, fun activities; we had the oenology exam, and after it we went to visit the winery, where we could concretely see the premises where wine is made. Cave de Tain winery was founded in the year 1933 and the main vine varieties are Syrah and Viognier. 

Kun olimme kiertäneet sisätilat, suuntasimme ulos kävellen kiertämään viinitarhaa. Nousimme aika korkealle, jossa sitten pääsimme nauttimaan kauniista maisemista ja lasillisista valkoviiniä. 

After the visit inside, we headed outside for a hike around the vineyards. We climbed up quite high, where we could enjoy the beautiful landscape and a glass of white wine.

Viinitarhalla kävelyn jälkeen söimme lounasta ja levähdimme hetkisen. Lounaan jälkeen meillä oli viinimaistelu Maison Gambert ravintolassa, joka oli n.20 minuutin kävelymatkan päässä viinitilasta. Maistelimme kahta eri valkoviiniä ja neljää eri punaviiniä. En ole aikaisemmin tehnyt tällaista oikeanlaista viinimaistelua, joten se oli erittäin mukavaa. Viinimaistelun jälkeen olimme vapaita lähtemään kotiin, mutta halusimme käydä vielä pyörähtämässä viinitilan kaupassa. Itse ostin sieltä 2 viinilasia, en vielä ole päättänyt pidänkö itsellä vai annanko lahjaksi. 

After the hike around the vineyards we had our lunch and rested for a while. After lunch we had a wine tasting in the restaurant of Maison Gambert, which was about 20 minutes away from the winery. We tasted two different kinds of white and four red wines. I have not done a real wine tasting before, so it was really nice. After the wine tasting we were free to go home, but we wanted to have a stroll in the winery's souvenir shop. I bought 2 wine glasses, and haven't yet decided whether to keep them myself or give as presents.

Friendsgiving

Lauantaina meillä oli aikamoiset kokkaukset menossa! Vietimme nimittäin illalla friendsgivingiä, koska torstaina oli thanksgiving ja Katelin ei sitä päässyt viettämään perheensä kanssa, niin päädyimme pitämään friendsgiving illallisen. Teimme jokainen jotakin ja ruokaahan sitten riitti niin että sai kunnon ruokaöverit. Loppuilta menikin porukalla sohvalla löhöten. Katelin kertoi meille hieman Amerikan historiasta ja siitä kuinka thanksgiving  on saanut alkunsa.  Irrotimme kalkkunasta "toivomusluun" ja kaksi kivi-paperi-sakset pelin voittanutta saivat kunnian taistella toivomuksesta. Se kummalle jäi käteen isompi pala luuta, sai toivoa ja toivomus tulee toteen. Ihana lauantai-ilta ihanien ystävien kesken💝

On Saturday we had quite a cooking party going on! We spent the evening having a Friendsgiving dinner, because it was Thanksgiving this week's Thursday and our friend Katelin couldn't spend it with her family, so we arranged her this dinner. We each prepared something, so there was a lot of food in the end, and we all got food overdoze. The rest of the evening we just layed on the couch. Katelin told us about the history of America and how Thanksgiving had started. We took out the wish bone from the turkey and two winners of the rock-paper-scissors game got to fight from the wish. The one who was left with the bigger piece of the bone got to make a wish, and it would according to the legend come true. What a wonderful Saturday evening with friends 💝
